I am happy to provide rough budget estimates and proposal suggestions before starting a project. I invoice for the time I have spent at the end of each month until the project has been completed and give advanced warning if anythings is likely to impact my budget outline.
Because my time is the main portion or what you pay, you can keep the costs down by taking care of any items you can handle yourself. The more working hours you need from me the higher the overall budget. The following examples assume you are using my time efficiently and that you are prepared to handle some of the less technical work yourself. These examples are not set in stone, I have developed very modest websites for around $1000+GST however these examples are a good guide to the avarage budget for most situations.
Self-Managed Concrete5 CMS Website
From $1900+GST for the first year then $400+GST each year for domain and managed hosting renewal fees.
20 hours of my time would allow for install and setup and some basic text formatting, applying your existing logo and perhaps loading your supplied photos or graphics. You would need to write your own text and provide all the copyright free graphics and photos. This could be a good choice if you are on a budget and skilled enough to write copy and have access to good quality graphics and photos. If you find you need more help, I would be happy to progress things beyond the sixteen hours at my normal hourly rate.
Self-Managed Open Cart E-Commerce Website
From $2800+GST for the first year then $400+GST each year for domain and managed hosting renewal fees.
32 hours of my time would cover integrating with standard payment facilities, providing general shipping and tax rules, applying your existing logo and perhaps loading five or six departments with some of you product data. You would need to write all of your product text and load any extensive inventory yourself. This could be a good choice if you have a smaller site or are on a budget and able to load extensive product data, text and photos. I would be happy to progress things beyond the twenty four hours at my normal hourly rate.

My standard hourly rate is $75+GST for commercial projects. I also support a number of charity and non profit websites with hosting, support and website development time based on my $60+GST non-profit hourly rate.
My non-profit hourly rate is $60+GST, billed at the end of each month.
My fees for domain registration and renewal is $50+GST per year for .com, .co.nz and .nz. This is paid in advance for the year ahead.
My standard fees for managed hosting and renewal is $360+GST per year. This is paid in advance for the year ahead. I may need to increase these fees if your website uses more than the normal amount of network traffic, disk space CPU or memory. I currently provide modest POP email hosting, if you require more advanced email facilities I can arrange for your domain to point to your favourite third party email supplier.
